The innovation leader for immunologically neutral implant restoration
Would you like to provide your patients with high-quality and highly tolerable metal-free replacement teeth and take the next step toward biological dentistry for your dental practice?
Our ceramic implants, which our dentists and specialists use themselves on a daily basis at the SWISS BIOHEALTH CLINIC, are made from the high-performance material zirconia.
The material is biocompatible and very well tolerated, meaning that it can remain in the mouth for decades. In contrast to dental implants made from titanium, no intolerance or allergies are known of in the case of ceramic implants. Ceramic implants are ideally suited for allergy sufferers and meet all requirements in terms of esthetics. Also referred to as “white dental implants”, they come very close to natural teeth, meaning that the patient’s teeth can hardly be distinguished from the implant.
SDS implants are also durable and robust. They are able to withstand significant mechanical stress and can remain in the jawbone forever.
Only implant systems that meet the highest standards of cleanliness are awarded the “Trusted Quality” mark by the CleanImplant Foundation. SDS SWISS DENTAL SOLUTIONS is the only implant manufacturer worldwide (as of 07/2022) to have earned this award for the BRIGHT ceramic implant series, both at production and manufacturer level.
You too can rely on ceramics and the ALL IN ONE CONCEPT instead of titanium implants for your implantology. We have a wide range of all-ceramic implants for a variety of dental applications. Meaning that your patients receive the best possible care.
Minimization of the risk of inflammation: Bacteria do not adhere well to ceramic implants
In many cases, immediate implant placement with subsequent immediate restoration is possible
Rapid healing, as the gums themselves attach very well to the ceramic implants
The Swiss Dental Solutions team has been able to draw on a history of more than 20 years’ experience in the area of ceramic implants to develop and produce the SDS1.2 and SDS2.2 ceramic implant series.
Ceramic implant series
SDS Implants have the Dynamic Thread® design, which is proven for all bone classes. The upper part of the abutment, the so-called “abutment post”, is designed in such a way that one-piece SDS1.2 implants can heal very well with long-term temporary restorations.

The two-piece implant system is based on more than 20 years of experience in the development of ceramic implants. The load-bearing upper part of the implant and the implant-abutment connection have been designed to be very solid. The connection is not in the implant, but rather in the lower part of the abutment, the so-called “tulip”.

SDS drilling protocol according to Dr. Ulrich Volz
Metal-free implant placement with all-ceramic drills made from high-performance ceramic alumina-toughened zirconia (ATZ).
All instruments that come into contact with patients are always made from ceramic. The rotating instruments made from ATZ ceramic are characterized by very long service lives with consistently sharp cutting surfaces. The clearly arranged surgical tray is structured according to bone class (IV-III-II-I) and thus simplifies compliance with the various drilling protocols. The tray is backward and forward compatible, with this applying to all implants ever sold by SDS as well as to implants that SDS is currently developing. The drills are laser marked (type and diameter) and also color coded, meaning that these drilling sequences are very easy to follow.

All dental problems are eliminated at once in just a single session or sequence. This is because only when all potential interference factors, such as metals, osteonecroses, root-treated teeth and other interference fields, are completely removed is the immune system able to perform its work to perfection, reliably heal around the implants and eliminate system stress. This is all the more important because ceramic implants heal completely neutrally and thus only in healthy bones with a functioning immune system.
Our patients’ health is the main focus of SDS.
Application
Specialists in biological dentistry put their faith in SDS ceramic implants, and thousands of happy and healthy patients trust SDS ceramic implants.

Titanium implants heal by releasing inflammation mediators in the sense of chronic inflammation and thus also in bad bones. According to the 2006 Consensus Conference, however, more than 80% of titanium implants are already afflicted by gingivitis after just five years, while more than 50% are affected by bone inflammation.* This peri-implantitis is not observed with zirconia ceramic implants and justifies the greater outlay in advance.

FAQ
Optimized production methods and material selection allow for grinding in accordance with our defined grinding protocol in a specified area. In constant load tests in accordance with DIN EN 1SO 14801, which are so important for approvals, SDS has demonstrated that the mechanical properties do not change whether the implants are ground down or not.
All SDS implants are self-tapping and, in most cases, can be placed as immediate implants.
In the case of the zirconia used by SDS, the gingiva behaves similarly in the area of the of the implant shoulder to how it does on bone. It can grow onto the implant shoulder and create a bacteria-proof seal. We do NOT want to destroy this valuable seal, e.g. by using gingiva formers.
The screw connection has the sole purpose of securely fixing the abutment at the target depth during the cementation process.
This is ensured constructively by choosing the appropriate thread pitch.

Depending on the producer, there are two different manufacturing methods for different geometries. Implants and abutments are either ground from “waves” that have been sintered through or milled from pre-sintered “rods” and then sintered through. The different manufacturing methods have no effect on the product properties. Our producers have continually improved their production processes over the past decades and achieve identical results in the meaningful DIN EN ISO 14801 constant load test.
They are less complex than two-piece implants and better represent the idea of a replacement tooth that is as close to a natural tooth as possible, as they can be more easily individualized by simply grinding them down. Furthermore, fewer sessions are required from the implant placement procedure to the final prosthetic restoration.
There are four basic rules:
Detailed information on this topic can be found in our media library.
The Dynamic Thread™ has an especially aggressive design in the lower third of the implants and ensures sufficient primary stability. Furthermore, there is an extremely large selection of implant diameters and lengths in order to ensure that the optimal implant is always placed. In our SDS user course and on our SDS media library, we also explain to you corresponding techniques that have been specially developed and optimized for SDS implants.
SDS has a very generous policy in the event of damage and replaces all products. We only charge a handling fee for products that have been accidentally opened or dropped.

Specials: “20+1”—please contact our SDS team directly for advice.
We are now able to place more than 85% of SDS implants immediately. This requires a special treatment protocol and appropriate further training. Surgically oriented biological dentistry according to the SWISS BIOHEALTH CONCEPT plays a major role in our further training program, in which the ceramic implants are “only” one component of this unique treatment concept. During our two-day “Ceramic implants and biological dentistry” user course with Dr. Volz, the differences between ceramic implants and titanium implants are explained in detail. You are shown how our SDS implants should be placed correctly, including the special SDS drilling protocol according to bone classes and the complete treatment protocol of surgically oriented biological dentistry—always with “the healthy patient” as our primary objective.
Benefit from our 20-year experience and learning curve with ceramic implants and more than 27 years’ expertise in biological dentistry that we are happy to pass on to you during these two course days.
Since the introduction of the SDS user courses, the success rate of our SDS users has greatly improved and contributed significantly to the benefit of everyone involved, including the patients.

In 2019, more than 23.000 SDS implants were sold in the DACH region (Germany/ Austria/ Switzerland).
SDS has a total of over 500 users in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the USA and Japan, among others.
We believe that bone formed by the body itself is always the best bone and have therefore developed a treatment concept with our special implant shapes and the Swiss Biohealth Concept which in most cases makes it possible to completely dispense with foreign materials.
The dietary supplements we have developed are a key component of the treatment concept and improve our success rates.
Unlike titanium implants, zirconia implants only heal in clean, healthy bone and the dietary supplements help to rebuild bone and soft tissue.
You do not require any instruments or prosthetic parts. The procedure is the same as that for a natural tooth that is being prepared for a crown or bridge restoration: grind, mold, place.
Generally speaking, three months in the lower jaw and six months in the upper jaw. These times can often be reduced if good primary stability has been achieved. Most SDS implants are placed immediately but not loaded.

Zirconia always contains yttrium oxide (≠ yttrium) in order to fix the material’s lattice structure in the desired state. SDS implants are made from the best raw materials available and exhibit radioactivity that is within the range of the natural radiation that we are all exposed to.
SDS ceramic implants are at least as stable as titanium implants. Last year’s (2019) annual assessment revealed a fracture rate of 0.2% across all products.
