All’s well that ends well? The same goes for the final prosthetic you place on an implant. We would wager, however, that you have been learning the hard way and have messed up one or two cases along the way!
Ceramic crowns and bridges follow their own laws. While they provide us with fantastic aesthetics and superior soft tissue compatibility, they can be exasperating. This especially holds true for ceramic implants, where the old prosthodontist’s saying “color and shape are defined by the bite!” certainly no longer applies. Rather, it is “all or nothing” — the prosthetic restoration must be reproducible and perfect the first time around. In order to ensure stability and soft tissue compatibility, we prefer a monolithic solution.
Gone are the days when it was possible to grind in or fire implants onto the abutment. We demand nothing less than flawless marginal adaptation, no friction, perfect and balanced occlusion and outstanding aesthetics!
